Cerebral Palsy, also referred to as CP, is a term used to describe a number of disorders of the developing brain affecting body movement, posture and muscle coordination. It is caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain, usually occuring during fetal development, before, during or shortly after birth; during infancy; or during early childhood. Cerebral Palsy is not a disease, it is not progressive, nor communicable. Although it cannot be cured, training and therapy can help improve function for people with cerebral palsy.
